On Thursday 24 March 2022, Bradford’s iconic City Park celebrated its 10 year anniversary. The £24million regeneration of the space in the heart of the city, which included the installation of the “mirror pool” as its centrepiece was opened to the public in 2012.

Since then City Park has been enjoyed by thousands of people, especially during the summer months, when scores of children flock to play in the mirror pool’s multiple fountains.

It’s also been the home to Bradford Literature Festival’s Family Fun Days since they were first launched in 2015. Taking place over two weekends in June and July each year, the themed Family Fun Days feature family friendly live theatre performances, film screenings, face painting, and craft workshops. The themes over the years have included witches and wizards, pirates, superheroes, under the sea, fairytales, and more.

After a two year gap in 2020 and 2021 when the Covid-19 pandemic meant that many live events had to be cancelled, Bradford Literature Festival is set to return to City Park in 2022, with a lineup of exciting performances and workshops led by the fabulous Wrongsemble, a Leeds-based theatre company.

This year’s Family Fun Day themes and the full timetable of events will be published on the Bradford Literature Festival website this spring. As usual, all events in City Park will be open to all age groups and are completely free of charge for everyone.
