World-record holding beatboxer Testament knows a thing or two about using the human voice in inventive and awe-inspiring ways.

In this session, children will be taken through a series of workshop-style exercises that develop an understanding of sound, rhythm and rhyme, the building blocks of not just beatboxing and rap music – but also poetry.

Funded by Bradford Opportunity Area, events explore everything from constructing beatbox rhymes to space inspired verse as poets from Bradford and beyond share their top tips for creating captivating poems. Content is suitable for students across KS1 and KS2.

Testament is a writer, rapper and world record breaking human beatboxer. His play Black Men Walking was nominated at the UK Theatre Awards and the Writer Guild Awards. Testament’s work includes the celebrated Hip-Hop album Homecut: No Freedom Without Sacrifice and play Blake Remixed.
