Our third Bradford Light Book Club title is Armistead Maupin’s Tales of the City. Set in 1970s San Francisco, Tales of the City is an outrageously entertaining saga following the fortunes of a naive young secretary, making her way in the big city.

Please read some or all of the novel in advance of the meeting. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide copies of the books chosen as part of this group, but we’ve partnered with Waterstones Bradford to offer 10% off this title until Wednesday 1st April.

About the Bradford Book Club

The Bradford Light Book Club is a community group which celebrates a shared love of stories, books and cinema. We meet on the first Wednesday of every month at The Light Cinema in Bradford to share our thoughts, feelings and opinions in a relaxed, welcoming and supportive environment. Group sessions are led by founding member Paula, with a selection of special guest hosts arranged by Bradford Literature Festival.

Each month we explore a selected piece of fiction taken from the BBC Arts list ‘100 Novels That Shaped Our World’, a varied and wide-ranging list that truly has something for everyone.

Whether you are an avid bibliophile looking for a new bookish adventure, or a part-time reader who enjoys a friendly chat over a cup of tea, everyone is welcome at the Bradford Light Book Club. Light snacks and a cosy setting are provided, warm and cold drinks are available from the bar.

Bradford Light Book Club is a project of The Light Cinema in collaboration with Bradford Literature Festival.
