In this exclusive event, award-winning Young Adult writer Angie Thomas comes to Bradford all the way from Jackson, Mississippi, for an in conversation event, hosted by poet Sophia Thakur. Join Angie to hear her story, and more about her ground-breaking novels The Hate U Give (now a major motion picture) and On The Come Up. You will have the chance to enjoy Sophia’s heart-wrenching poetic response to THUG, ‘Poetry For The Mandem’, ask Angie your questions, and have your books signed!

Sophia Thakur

A multi-award-winning writer and poet, Sophia Thakur is a unique voice. Sophia was the first poet to be invited to give two TED talks before the age of 20 and has taken part in events for by The Guardian, The Royal Family, Channel 4, BBC, Viacom, Nike and the Liberal Democrat and Labour party. Her debut collection of poetry, Somebody Give This Heart a Pen was published in October 2019.
