Bringing together world-leading Islamic scholar Habib Ali al-Jifri and the ever-erudite Bishop Nick Baines, this unique event explores the importance of humanity in the pursuit of religiosity.

The event will open with a lecture by Habib Ali, author of Humanity Before Religiosity, which will outline his belief that humanity is the foundation stone upon which religious practice should be built, and warn that unsound foundations of humanity will lead to unsound religiosity.

This will be followed by a reflection by Bishop Nick Baines upon Habib Ali’s lecture, together with his own messages of tolerance and compassion for all people, which he regularly offers in his sermons, radio broadcasts, and newspaper commentaries on the social and political issues of the day.

Closing with a conversation between the two spiritual leaders and an audience Q&A, this event will explore religious themes, with messages of empathy and respect, accessible to audiences of all faiths and none.
