About The Poet

Theresa Lola

Theresa Lola is a British Nigerian poet, currently the Young People’s Laureate for London. Her debut full length poetry collection In Search of Equilibrium was published in February 2019. Theresa was the joint winner of the 2018 Brunel International African Poetry Prize, has been shortlisted for the 2017 Bridport Poetry Prize, and her poem Portrait of Us As Snow White was highly commended for the 2016 Charles Causley Competition.  She won the  2017 Hammer and Tongue National Slam after a two-day finale at the Royal Albert Hall. She has performed across the UK and internationally.
