In the world according to movies, Jon Bon Jovi was a World War II hero and King Arthur invented the printing press. Thankfully we have historian and writer, Alex von Tunzelmann, to sort fact from fiction. Her long-running column for the Guardian, Reel History, takes a comic look at the history of the world as told through the movies, examining where Hollywood took artistic liberties or stuck close to the actual truth.

In this talk, Von Tunzelmann looks at how history has been presented on the screen, from ancient Egypt to the Tudors to the Nazis, and how these movies shape what we believe to be true.
