An iconic annual event, this year’s Sufiana Kalaam welcomes the incredible Fareed Ayaz, Abu Muhammad Qawwal & Brothers—a renowned qawwali group and part of the Coke Studio line-up—for their first Bradford appearance.

Qawwali, the most popular form of Sufi music, is part of a musical tradition that stretches back more than 700 years, connecting this event to generations of poets and performers through time. A firm audience favourite, this will be a mesmerising evening of Sufi poetry, celebrating the musical tradition of the Punjab and the Indian subcontinent.

Fareed Ayaz, Abu Muhammad Qawwal and Brothers are masters of qawwali Sufi music as well as classical genres such as tarana, thumri, and khayal. They belong to the Qawwal Bachchon ka Gharana of Delhi, a music school founded in the 14th century that remains the best-known gharana today.
