The ancient practice of yoga works on essential well-being through integration of mind, body and breath. Yoga’s aim is spiritual enlightenment, but there are also many potential health benefits, including reduced stress, improved mobility and increased flexibility and strength.

The gentle nature of yoga makes it suitable for almost everyone. This beginner-level class, led by experienced yoga teacher, Kirsten Agar Ward, is designed to show how you might introduce yoga into your everyday life. The class will include an introduction to yoga philosophy, postures and relaxation.

Yoga is practised in bare feet. Wear comfortable and unrestrictive clothing – shorts or leggings and a t-shirt are ideal. Don’t eat just before the sessions! Participants may wish to bring a blanket or thick towel for their comfort.

Kirsten Agar Ward

Kirsten is originally from Bradford and also was educated there. Kirsten took up Iyengar Yoga in Saltaire when she returned to the area after completing her first degree and has taught yoga full time in the UK and internationally, since 2000. She studies with the Iyengers at Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute in Pune, India. As well as teaching yoga she is also a keen student of Indian philosophy and mantra.
