In these three videos, join James Carter for some fast-paced fun, as he brings poetry and music together for our very youngest audiences and their parents.

Using content from James’ books Zim Zam Zoom and Once Upon a Rhythm, children are in for a treat, as punchy poetry and masterful melodica playing combine to make this Early Years-focussed literacy and oracy-building experience a brilliant introduction to the magical possibilities of poetry.

Funded by Bradford Opportunity Area, events explore everything from constructing beatbox rhymes to space inspired verse as poets from Bradford and beyond share their top tips for creating captivating poems. Content is suitable for students across KS1 and KS2.

About The Poet

James Carter

James Carter is an award-winning children’s poet, non-fiction writer and musician. An ambassador for National Poetry Day, he travels all over the UK with his melodica (that’s Steve) to give lively poetry and music performances/workshops/INSET days.
