The Black Prince tells the intriguing story of Duleep Singh, the last King of the Punjab, later nicknamed the Black Prince of Perthshire.

Taken from his mother at the age of 10 and brought to England five years later, Singh was introduced to Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, who showered him with affection. As he grew up, he was indoctrinated into Christianity and embraced the English culture, living a lavish lifestyle in some of the country’s grandest properties.

After 13 years, he was finally allowed to visit his mother and bring her back to Britain, where she spent the last two years of her life telling him about his Sikh heritage. This marked the beginning of a long struggle to find the faith that had been taken from him.

Maharajah Duleep Singh was a man torn between two cultures, loved by a Queen and hidden from his true past.
