Helen Little

Helen Little is a curator with a special interest in modern and contemporary British art. She has organised a range of historic and contemporary exhibitions, most recently at Leeds Art Gallery, where among other projects she presented the touring retrospective Eileen Agar: Angel of Anarchy (2022) and curated the group exhibition Radical Reel (2021) drawn from the gallery’s collection of 40 years of artists’ moving image. Previously, Helen was Assistant Curator at Tate Britain, London where she contributed to major exhibitions and displays on artists including David Hockney (2017), Frank Auerbach (2015), Alan Davie (2014), Chris Ofili (2010) and Richard Long (2009) as well as the group exhibitions Picasso and Modern British Art (2012) and Turner Prize (2008, 2009 & 2010).

As an independent curator, Helen devised the exhibition Alan Davie and David Hockney: Early Works with The Hepworth, Wakefield (2018) and is currently working on a major international touring exhibition on David Hockney drawn from Tate’s collection. Having become the artist’s first retrospective in South Korea and China (where it was awarded the Asia Art Pioneers Award for exhibition of the year, 2019) Helen is currently working on the exhibition’s second, European tour accompanied by her major new monograph David Hockney: Moving Focus published by Tate in 2020.
