Join poet and performer Kate Wakeling as she reads from her award-winning book of poems for children. Moon Juice is full of curious characters and strange situations, always musical, sometimes wistful, and full of wonder at the weirdness of the world.

Funded by Bradford Opportunity Area, events explore everything from constructing beatbox rhymes to space inspired verse as poets from Bradford and beyond share their top tips for creating captivating poems. Content is suitable for students across KS1 and KS2.

About The Poet

Kate Wakeling

Kate Wakeling grew up in Yorkshire and Birmingham. Her first collection of poems for children, Moon Juice, won the 2017 CLiPPA Prize and was nominated for the 2018 Carnegie Medal. Kate loves performing poetry, particularly for family audiences and also works regularly in primary schools. Kate is part of an ongoing project with literary organisation Pop Up Projects to deliver creative workshops for children with special education needs and disabilities across Kent.
