Discounts & Concessions

Ethical Ticketing Policy

Bradford Literature Festival (BLF) is committed to creating an inclusive and accessible programme. This Ethical Ticketing Policy ensures ticket prices remain low and many of our events are free, giving as many people as possible access the festival.

There are a range of concessions and discounts available for visitors who qualify and wish to attend ticketed events. Non-ticketed events are free.

Concession Tickets

Within the Ethical Ticketing Policy, free and discounted tickets are offered to those from the categories below. To book these tickets simply visit the event page and select the appropriate tickets for your party.

Where concession tickets are available, this will be clearly displayed on the ticket-purchasing page alongside the standard pricing options. They are valid for the majority of our events.

Please be aware that you may be asked to show proof of concessionary status on arrival. Terms and conditions apply (see bottom of page).

Where and how to book

Tickets will be available following the programme announcement in from late Spring. To get the latest programme updates sign-up to our e-newsletter.

Tickets can be booked online on this website, in person and over the phone.

In person – BLF Ticket Office, Bradford City Park, July 2026.

By phone – Call the Box Office on 01274 044140 (Monday – Friday 09:30 – 16:30 excluding bank holidays).

How to use Community Codes

Eligible community groups must apply each year to receive a unique booking code. This code may be shared with members (and only members) so they can book discounted/free tickets for events online, over the phone or in-person.

A group’s eligibility is at the discretion of Bradford Literature Festival. Having a Community Code for a previous edition of Bradford Literature Festival does not guarantee one in future.

Tickets booked through a Community Code must be cancelled ahead of the event if they are no longer to be used.

Codes must not be shared with anyone outside the group to which it has been allocated.

Ticket Information

Tickets for each event are sold on an individual event basis, therefore tickets must be purchased separately for each event that you wish to attend.

Tickets must be shown to gain entry to your event. As part of our commitment to being an environmentally-ethical festival we do not post out paper tickets as standard. Tickets will be sent via email and can be shown on a smartphone or other device at the event. You can also print these tickets at home if you would prefer.

The price of tickets may vary and will be clearly stated against each individual event listing. All ticket prices are inclusive of VAT and booking fee.

Refunds

Full refunds are available for purchased tickets up to one week before the event, and partial refunds up to 72 hours before the event. Please contact [email protected] to request a refund. More details can be found in our Terms and Conditions.

Late Comers

Late comers to events may be refused admittance in order not to disrupt an event. Terms and conditions apply for refunds, please refer to our Terms and Conditions page for further details.

Accessibility

We always endeavour to work with accessible venues. Please include information about your accessibility requirements when booking your event ticket(s) so that we can understand your requirements and advise the venue of your needs.

Alternatively, please contact the Box Office by email [email protected] in advance of the event.

If you require additional support during your visit to the festival such as a chaperone please let us know in advance by emailing [email protected]

Please make sure to arrive at events early, and make yourself known to a member of staff on arrival.

Proof of Entitlement

If you have purchased a concession ticket, you may be asked to provide proof of appropriate concession status to gain entry to the event.

We accept the following forms of identification:

  • Disability – letters from Disability Support Services, Personal Independence Payment (PIP) letters, appropriate travel/leisure cards, and blue badges
  • Student – a valid student card. We accept NUS as well as cards issued by your school, college or university
  • Senior citizen – photographic ID which can include a passport, driver’s license, bus pass or other form of recognised identification
  • State pension – we appreciate that it may not be possible to prove that a state pension is your sole source of income, therefore we operate an honesty policy for this ticket concession
  • Benefits recipient – a recent letter or any government document (dated within three months) which states that you are in receipt of benefits, or living in social housing.

Please do not worry if you don’t have the above stated documentation. You can contact us ahead of your visit for advice and we will always look to accommodate your needs.
