This spiritual poem offers a quintessential summary of the account of the Prophet Muhammad’s birth, upbringing, and life, and is recited in circles of remembrance around the world.
This special event will also mark the official UK launch of the new book, ‘Breezes of the Elect’. A collection of classical poems, including the Shimmering Light Mawlid, along with other timeless works that offer guidance for those seeking a deeper understanding of Islam.

SHAAM
SHAAM are a Muslim Nasheed Group composed of Haroon, Imran, Mahmood & Yasin from Birmingham, England. The foursome are a confident polished quartet who perform stirring renditions, coupled with exquisite drumming. They have toured around the globe with live performances singing in Arabic, Urdu and English to make the unique ancient Islamic art of devotional singing accessible to all.
Hundreds of thousands have witnessed the mastery of SHAAM live and the group considers itself fortunate to count the likes of Prince Charles amongst its many admirers. Amongst many achievements SHAAM are credited for being the first Muslim Nasheed Group to perform and record live at EMI Abbey Road Studios, have been personally invited to perform at 10 Downing Street and featured a sound track in the multi Oscar winning Hollywood Blockbuster film ‘ARGO’.
SHAAM‘s passion for their art remains as strong as ever as they strive to make Islamic devotional songs widely accessible in a variety of languages and styles, some old and some new. Yet all the while they are aware that they are carriers of weighty words with yet -weightier meaning.
About the Artists
Shaykh Ahmed Saad
Ahmed Saad Al-Azhari, is an Egyptian born, British Islamic scholar, and is the founder of the Ihsan Institute. He is an advocate of teaching traditional Islamic sciences; which he has taught in various parts of the world. Shaykh Saad loves poetry and writes it frequently mainly in Arabic and sometimes in English. He has published an anthology of his poetry and some other books including Contemplating the Qur’an’.
Shaykh Amir Nawaz
Shaykh Amir began his pursuit of knowledge in Liverpool with Shaykh Haroon Hanif and Shaykh Sirajuddin in 2001. He continued his studies with Shaykh Ibrahim Osi-Efa in 2006 which then led him to travel to Yemen. He was blessed to study at Dar al-Mustafa under al-Habib Umar b. Hafiz, al-Habib Kazim al-Saqqaf, al-Habib Muhammad al-Aydarus, Shaykh Umar al-Khatib and Shaykh Salim Bahraysh. Whilst in Yemen, he assisted with the annual Dowra program. He also set up various programmes such as ‘The Rights of the Deceased’ course with the Mufti of Tarim, Habib Ali al-Mashour and a course for mothers under the supervision of Habib Umar. He is currently a resident teacher at Greensville Trust where he teaches on the Arabic Madrasa course and is the principal at the Rawda Academy.
