Bradford Literature Festival (BLF) has developed an expansive, free Education Programme that invites leading writers, performance poets, illustrators, scientists, historians, journalists, among many others, to share their skills through live shows, performances and interactive workshops. Our 2027 programme will take place from 11 – 18 June 2027.

Each day features exciting events, following a curriculum-targeted theme, aimed at a particular key stage or age range, championing an inclusive curriculum that fosters different perspectives on taught topics.

Our themes for 2027 range from Myths, Legends and Magical Creatures to Shakespeare, Earth and Space to Rebels and Rulebreakers, as well as events exploring life Under the Sea, Performance Poetry, and more!

Each student ticket for the Education Programme is worth £25, but BLF is pleased to offer attendance for free to non-fee-paying schools, education groups and home educators across the North. Teachers, course leaders, and parents or carers who home educate children can register and book for events. BLF also welcomes fee-paying schools to enjoy this fantastic opportunity at a set ticket price per student.

Booking is now available for our amazing series of events in the 2027 Primary Education Programme. Join us for six Key Stage 2 days tailored to the National Curriculum.

The 2027 themes are Myths, Legends & Magical Creatures, Earth and Space, Great Explorers: Into the Unknown, Under the Sea, Performance and Poetry and Introducing Shakespeare.

Secondary Education Programme 2027

Booking is now available for our fantastic series of events in the 2027 Secondary Education Programme. Join us for six Key Stage 3 and 4 days tailored to the National Curriculum.

The 2027 themes are Rebels & Rulebreakers, The World We Live In, Gothic, Monsters & Dystopia, Manga, Anime & Visual Storytelling, Performance Poetry and Shaking Up Shakespeare.

Free Lesson Plan Library

BLF’s Digital Education Programme; an online library of free lesson plans, worksheets and resources are available to download.

These lesson plans cover Key Stages 2, 3 and 4; scaffolding and building on curriculum learnings. Each lesson has been designed for a specific year group, but can easily be adapted for younger or older learners.
