The 10th of Muharram, known as Ashura, is a day woven with stories of divine mercy, deliverance, and profound sacrifice. It marks the salvation of Prophet Musa (Moses) from Pharaoh, the resting of Prophet Nuh’s (Noah’s) Ark, and a tradition of fasting that predates Islam-each event a testament to God’s mercy and human faith.
It is also the day of Karbala, when Imam Hussain ibn Ali (AS) stood against injustice and was martyred. His sacrifice lives on as a spiritual beacon, transforming grief into courage, love, and devotion.
In this heartfelt talk, Ustadh Feraidoon Mojadedi will reflect on Ashura as a sacred thread connecting the trials of prophets and the legacy of Hussain, inviting us to see how remembrance can lead the heart from sorrow to grace.

Feraidoon Mojadedi
Feraidoon Mojadedi, a prominent figure in the Bay Area, California, is celebrated as a community leader, lecturer, and entrepreneur. Originating from Herat, Afghanistan, he migrated to the U.S. during the Russian invasion in 1985. With a background in history from San Francisco State University, his profound connection with poetry, particularly Rumi’s, has led him to teach classes across the globe. Fluent in Farsi, he brings Rumi’s timeless message of peace and love to life. He is also recognized for his play Layla & Majnun, debuted in Perth, Australia. Beyond his endeavors, he enjoys reading, studying, and lecturing on spirituality. He resides in Dublin, California, with his wife and children.
