About the Author

Catherine Barr
Catherine wrote her first book The Story of Life after searching in vain for the story (rather than text book) of evolution for her two girls at primary school in 2015. She has now written over 35 books for children to share her curiosity, start conversations and inspire action to care for our natural world. Covering global issues from climate change to freshwater and conservation, Catherine’s books are aimed at children and the grown-ups who read with them.
After studying ecology, Catherine worked with Greenpeace for many years before becoming a journalist and then Editor at the Natural History Museum in London, where she wrote a series of summer exhibitions. She now embraces the collaborative journey of working with illustrators, publishers, scientists and subject experts to bring her ideas to life. She visits schools around the country to meet readers and share her nonfiction picture books in workshops and events.
