Description
Join us for a calming, creative workshop celebrating the rich tradition of Palestinian embroidery. Guided by the skilled team at Yorkshire Tatreez, you’ll cross-stitch your own beautiful bookmark while connecting with a centuries-old practice rooted in storytelling, resistance, and cultural memory.
Tatreez is more than embroidery; it’s a visual language passed through generations of Palestinian women, expressing identity, heritage, and life on the land. In 2021, UNESCO recognised this remarkable art form by adding it to its Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
Take a moment for mindful embroidery and choose your own design to begin (or continue) your own tatreez journey.
The recommended age for this event is 16+. Under 18’s must be accompanied by an over 18 ticket holder.

Yorkshire Tatreez
Join Yorkshire Tatreez for two hours of mindful stitching.
An opportunity to learn about the ancient art of Palestinian cross stitch embroidery, and craft yourself a bookmark. Yorkshire Tatreez is an inspired project, developing under the guidance of a group of passionate stitchers and designers. Our aim is to share stories behind the tatreez patterns used for centuries on household items and women’s clothing, especially the classic Palestinian dress or ‘thobe’.
Come and meet Yorkshire Tatreez. Kate, Anisa, Shaida, Susan, Nabeela and others in the group will welcome you and you will be guided in stitching a small motif onto aida, and choosing a bookmark to mount your work on. After that you’ll be let loose to tatreez the world.
