Honoured: Naz Shah in Conversation
Naz Shah joins Bradford Literature Festival to launch her powerful and deeply personal memoir Honoured, in a special event marking International Women’s Day.
In this moving conversation, Naz Shah reflects on her extraordinary journey from childhood trauma to becoming a Member of Parliament. Born and raised in Bradford, Shah was sent to Pakistan aged 12 to escape her mother’s violent abuser. After her mother was imprisoned for killing her abuser, Shah and her siblings began campaigning for her release, an early act of resilience and advocacy that would shape her future.
In Honoured, Shah tells her story in full for the first time, exploring family, faith, survival, justice and the realities of public life. Her memoir offers a rare and intimate portrait of a woman who has defied expectations and used her voice to speak for others.
Recorded live at Bradford Literature Festival, this event explores themes of identity, politics, trauma, resilience and public service.
