Description
Discover the contemplative art of Ottoman and Islamic calligraphy in this introductory hands-on masterclass, supported by the Yunus Emre Institute.
Led by artist Esma Ceylan, who trained under master calligrapher Mustafa Cemil Efe and holds an Ijazah in Thuluth, Naskh and Riqa scripts, the session explores patience, balance and the beauty of the written word.
Following a short introduction and live demonstration, participants will practise basic strokes before creating a single letter, such as waw or alif, to take home.
Suitable for beginners aged 16 and over. All materials will be provided.
