Lunch Bite: Words That Travel the World

Description

What does a twelfth-century Arabic fable cycle have to do with a library in Bradford? Rather more than you’d expect.

Join Professor Saeed Khan as he explores the Qatar National Library’s landmark exhibitions bringing two jewels of classical Arabic literature to new audiences worldwide: Kalila wa Dimna, the ancient animal fables that travelled from Sanskrit India into the Islamic world and on into medieval Europe, and the Maqamat of Al-Hariri, fifty dazzling tales of a wandering trickster that pushed the Arabic language to its most acrobatic limits — and inspired some of the most celebrated illustrated manuscripts in Islamic art.

Through its partnership with BLF, QNL is bringing these stories to Bradford audiences for the very first time.
