Designing Digital Landscapes with Samuel Sharp

Description

Join digital painter Samuel Sharp for a creative workshop that introduces you to the art of digital landscape drawing.

Focusing on the distinctive beauty of the Yorkshire landscape, this session invites you to explore familiar places through colour, light and expressive mark making.

Sharp’s own work explores the quiet poetry of everyday scenes, from hedgerows and pavements to the fleeting views we catch on the move. His vivid, light-filled paintings are created on his iPad and iPhone, often between shifts or in moments of stillness at home. Rooted in observation and memory, his approach captures the emotional truth of a landscape rather than its exact likeness.

Influenced by David Hockney’s use of colour, technology and deep looking, Sharp embraces digital tools as a way to paint quickly and responsively in a fast-changing world. In this workshop, he will guide you through the essentials of digital drawing, helping you create your own expressive study of Yorkshire’s landscape. All you need is a phone or tablet with Brushes Redux installed.

A gentle and thoughtful session that encourages you to slow down, pay attention and rediscover the beauty of the places around you.

Please note, you will need to bring your own smartphone or tablet to this session with the free app Brushes Redux downloaded.
