Description
Join Laurie Parsons in conversation with Jo Sharp, professor of geography at the University of St Andrews, for an in-depth look at how our responses to the climate crisis can be made more equitable across the globe. Parsons’ new book, Carbon Colonialism, highlights the scale of the challenges that lie ahead.
The climate crisis is arguably the biggest challenge facing the world today – but is globalisation making the situation worse and what does fair environmental stewardship look like?
Rising carbon emissions are accelerating climate change. Our forests are disappearing, and the air we breathe and the oceans we depend on are polluted. The effects are being felt now, with vulnerable communities around the world bearing the brunt of it.
It’s estimated around 20 million people a year are forced from their homes due to climate change, and with climate-related disasters tripling in the last 30 years, the issue of climate refugees can only get worse. What are the possible solutions, and how does the world adapt?
