Description
Author Noor Yusuf and Shaykh Dr. Asim Yusuf explore The Soliloquy of the Full Moon – the first English language Mawlid of its kind.
Written by Yusuf, at just 15, The Soliloquy of the Full Moon is an epic poem composed over twelve nights in Rab al-Awwal 1436H. The poem spans over a thousand lines, celebrating the life and virtues of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) ﷺ.
With its Barzanjian form and Shakespearean rhythm, the work weaves classical style with spiritual depth. Yusuf will reflect on the poem’s significance, highlighting themes such as the Prophet’s birth, early signs, revelations, and the night journey, offering a fresh lens on prophetic devotion.

Noor Yusuf is a poet and author. She has been writing and composing books, articles and poetry for many years. Her works have garnered her a number of awards at both local and national level, including being a three-times winner of the Young Muslim Writers Award.
At the age of 15, she authored The Soliloquy of the Full Moon, an original work on the nativity of the Prophet Muhammad. This is a thousand line narrative epic of fully-metered English poetry. It seamlessly fuses the classical cadences of Shakespeare and Milton with the equally classical genres of Arabic praise and biographical poetry, to create a work that is entirely unique and a definitive contribution to Western Muslim culture.
She has authored Beyond the Forest, Through the Blue Gate and Over Mist and Mountain, books written on the legendarium of the Awliya, and The Panegyricon – a multi-volumed compendium of praise poetry.
