Storyteller Kerima will introduce you to folktales and true stories from South Asia and show you that heroes come in all shapes and sizes. Meet humble sailors, princesses down on their luck, brave tortoises, clever deer and many others who have to rely on their wits, the kindness of friends and maybe just a little magic in order to overcome great dangers and seemingly impossible obstacles.

About the Storyteller
Kerima Mohideen
Kerima trained as a storyteller at the School of Storytelling at Emerson College.
It was here that she created her first storytelling performance, If the Trees could Speak which she has performed at at Amnesty International, the School of Oriental Studies and the Brunei Gallery (SOAS), the Oxford Storytelling Festival, Beyond the Border, A Bit Crack in Newcastle and a number of other storytelling places.
Kerima used to be an English and Humanities teacher in inner London schools. She developed materials to support oracy and literacy skills and to stimulate discussion about colonialism, gender and the environment.
She is of mixed heritage. Her father’s family are from the Muslim minority in Sri Lanka, many of them followers of the Sufi teacher Rumi, her mother is a South Londoner of mixed English and Scottish ancestry.
