Description

Join composer and Royal Albert Hall Associate artist, Rushil Ranjan, for a powerful evening of Sufi music reimagined through orchestra, choir, Indian classical voice and dance.

Following his acclaimed work bringing South Asian spiritual traditions into dialogue with Western classical forces, Ranjan presents a specially conceived performance for Bradford Literature Festival, featuring lead vocals from Sarthak Kalyani. Blending the devotional intensity of qawwali and Sufi poetry with sweeping orchestral writing, choral textures and Indian classical movement, Sufiyana Kalaam explores music as a space for longing, beauty, surrender and transcendence.

Rooted in centuries-old traditions of sacred poetry and song, the evening brings together artists across disciplines to create a contemporary concert experience that is both intimate and expansive.

A celebration of spiritual expression, shared heritage and the enduring power of music to move across cultures, languages and forms.
