Description

A live celebration of Bangladeshi culture through song and music, this special afternoon concert brings together beloved folk songs, Baul music, river songs and devotional traditions. 

Led by singers Ahmed Kaysher and Laboni Barua, with a live ensemble of musicians, the performance features many of the songs audiences will remember, recognise and want to sing out loud.  

From familiar folk melodies to enduring classics, the afternoon celebrates the memories and shared experiences carried through these songs across generations.

About the Musicians

Laboni Barua

Laboni Barua is a Bangladeshi singer based in the UK whose repertoire spans semi-classical, modern and folk music. She has released a debut album and more than ten singles, and performs regularly at concerts and cultural events across the UK and Europe. Known for her versatility and expressive vocal style, she is a well-established figure within the British Bengali music scene.

Ahmed Kaysher

Ahmed Kaysher is a folk singer, poet and cultural curator whose repertoire spans the rich musical traditions of Bengal. For more than a decade, he has championed folk, devotional and classical music through performances, festivals and cultural projects across the UK. As founder of Saudha, he has played a significant role in introducing Bengali music to wider audiences and fostering artistic exchange between cultures. His performances are characterised by their blend of music, poetry and storytelling, reflecting a deep engagement with Bengal’s artistic and literary heritage.
