Song for Bradford will take the stories and experiences of men in the Bradford Romani community and turn them into a song for Bradford, celebrating Roma life and culture in our great city.

Join Roma writers and musicians, Richard O’Neill and Juice Vamosi, for four online songwriting sessions. Share your words and work with us to turn those words, experiences and stories into a song for Bradford. Each session will focus on developing a different skill from creating lyrics and getting the right beat to finding a melody and putting it altogether.

These workshops are for men with Romani heritage who are part of the Bradford Roma community. The dates/ times for each workshop will be decided in consultation with the registered participants to ensure that as many people as possible are able to join us.

About The Artists

Richard O’Neill

Richard O’Neill is a multi-award-winning storyteller, author and playwright born and raised in a large traditional nomadic Romani family, whose history in England and Scotland goes back hundreds of years. Richard continues the tradition of travelling across the UK and mainland Europe, delivering storytelling sessions and storytelling skills workshops at schools, libraries, festivals, universities and theatres. He has a particular interest in using literature to promote inclusion and social mobility.

Juice Vamosi

Juice Vamosi grew up in a poor Roma (Gypsy) community in Southern Hungary. He was the first of his family to graduate from high school, and the first in his community to earn a university degree. In 2010, he built the KaskoSan social network which became the first global Roma brand. In Hungary, he promoted Kis Grofo, a young Roma talent, to become the highest paid musical entertainer in the country.

Recently, Juice is using his skills to support the well-being of Eastern European Roma families in Bradford, Oldham and Bolton via the KaskoSan Roma Charity.
