Spirituality in Islam has always been strongly connected to the descendants of the Blessed Prophet ﷺ . A Blessed Valley tells the story of a major branch and one of the purest lineages of Ahl al-Bayt, or ‘House of Prophecy’, the Ba-‘Alawi sayyids of Hadramawt, southern Yemen.

The author, Dr Mostafa al-Badawi, is an Egyptian psychiatrist, scholar of Islamic sciences, and translator of Islamic texts. Among the texts he has translated are the ten books of Imam Abd Allah al-Haddad, Key to the Garden by Habib Ahmad Mashhur al-Haddad, and The Degrees of the Soul by Shaykh al-Shabrawi. His own works include Man and the Universe, Sufi Sage of Arabia, A Higher Reality, Twilight of a World, Ancient Prophets of Arabia, Spiritual Significance in Islamic Architecture, and Day of Decision: The Battle of Badr.

Shaykh Yahya Rhodus

Shaykh Yahya Rhodus is the Founding Director of Al-Maqasid. His journey began at the traditional school of Murabit al-Hajj in the desert of Mauritania shortly after his conversion. His path of learning then led him to the acclaimed school Dar al-Mustafa in Tarim, where he received instruction from the renowned scholar and spiritual guide Habib Umar Bin Hafiz. After graduating from Dar al-Mustafa and returning to the United States, he studied in a number of academic institutions, culminating in a PhD in Theology and Religious Studies from the University of Cambridge, England.
